As has been our tradition for almost 10 years running, during the College’s winter mid-term break (first week of March) three judges examined the design and graphic work of our first year Architecture Technology Diploma students of the Davis Campus of Sheridan College Institute. What they were evaluating was the success of private house design prepared by these students in the course of the first seven weeks of their Architectural Studio 2 course.
This year the work of students was pre-selected by their current Studio 2 instructors, Dave Wackerlin and James Bailey for consideration by judges Albena Bakalov (local registered architect), Ramiro Nolasco (Sheridan Instructor) and Nathan Buhler (winner of the competition in 2005).
In addition to the Marx trophy for best design, other awards were being offered in two categories: excellence of design concept and presentation.
The winner of the trophy this past year was Anthony Mulders. The winner of best presentation was Tarek El Ali whose house design placed third. Second prize for design went to Dylan Marinuzzo.
Other winners in the presentation category were Abdulhaz Khandwalla (2nd Prize) and Breana Echart (3rd Prize).
